The Assistant Director – Leadership Gifts reports to the Director of Advancement and is responsible for planning and implementing a program of cultivation and solicitation of leadership and annual gift prospects (defined as donors of $1,000 or more – The St. Francis Xavier Society, or $500 or more for alumni under age 30 – Emerging Leaders Society). Primary responsibilities and relationships with other people in the institution are outlined below.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage a portfolio of at least 250 prospects and carry out no less than 200 solicitations with specific leadership annual gift prospects, working with key volunteers when appropriate.
Assisted by the Advancement Team, direct research to identify leadership annual gift prospects and obtain information concerning financial capability, special interests, past gift history, current institutional relationships, and financial contributions to other causes.
Maintain the proposal system within advancement office software which will slow periodically who is in charge of the current “move” for each prospect, what the last action was and what the next step will be.
Work with each person who has a leadership annual gift assignment to chart plans and timetable for each prospect to include cultivation, involvement, solicitation, and appropriate acknowledgement.
Assist with current stewardship and recognition programs created for leadership annual gift donors.
Determine when prospect solicitations could be assisted by appropriate persons-board members, other key volunteers, President, Vice President for Advancement, Director of Advancement and other top administrators.
Lead reporting sessions with staff members and key volunteers, such as the Advancement Committee, to keep attention focused on the progress of the leadership annual gift effort.
Coordinate activities and events for soliciting, recognizing, and cultivating members of the St. Francis Xavier Society.
Participate in annual office phoning efforts to connect with key volunteers and identify prospects.
Perform additional duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Advancement.
Minimum of two years experience with direct solicitation responsibilities in a non-profit environment or comparable experience in a sales or marketing position.
Outstanding interpersonal skills.
Dedication to a high level of confidentiality.
Exceptional organizational skills while still exhibiting a high degree of flexibility.
Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Able to make quick decisions, take initiative and prioritize tasks.
