Miami Country Day School was founded in 1938 as a residential proprietary boarding school for boys through eighth grade and has evolved remarkably over the past 77 years. The School has become a coeducational, nonprofit, interdenominational day school with approximately 1350 students representing approximately 44 countries in Pre-Kindergarten-3-year old through grade 12. Miami Country Day School is seeking a skilled and dynamic full-time nurse to work in our busy,
school health center. The health center registered nurse will be part of a nursing team that
performs and oversees the daily clinical operations and provision of care required for the
Health Center to serve as an ambulatory care clinic, medication dispensary and infirmary.
He/she is required to work both independently and as part of a personable and closely
collaborative nursing team of two people. This is a full-time, 12-month position, beginning June 2018.
The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and solid assessment skills.
This person must be organized, able to work both independently and on a team, able to multi-task,
willing to work under busy conditions and able to collaborate and communicate effectively.
Excellent customer service skills are essential. School based health care experience not necessary but
preferred; comfort with children from 3 to 18 years old a must.
Essential Functions and Tasks:
Integrates knowledge, skills, and clinical experience to meet the needs of students, their families, and the community.
Participates in planning programs that eliminate or minimize health problems of students that may interfere with learning.
Participates in identifying and reporting environmental health and safety hazards (current and potential) for students and staff.
Maintains and reviews student health records and statistical information regarding the health status of students and utilization of the school health service program.
Communicates current health problems, needs and concerns of students to their parents and appropriate school staff.
Participates on the Child Study team.
Maintains a system for providing first aid and emergency care.
Administers medicine and treatments to students as approved by School Policy and Florida Nursing Law.
Provides individualized patient education.
Serves as clinical resource.
Works closely with Divisional Offices as part of the Student Life Department to advise about topics related to student health and wellness.
Coordinates care for students with outside medical professionals when necessary.
Maintains student's confidential files and records.
Is a member of the Safety Committee.
Knowledge, Skills, and Physical Requirements:
Degree from accredited school of nursing.
Registered Nurse in Florida.
Triage experience a plus.
Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of team.
Ability to innovate, problem solve and think creatively.
Willingness to make contribution to the School outside the Health and
Ability to use and adapt to a wide-array of technology as tools to support the
Health and Wellness Center; familiarity with Magnus Health a plus.
Assist in being a practitioner of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Work in a fast-paced, stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
