Cary Academy is seeking a student-centered, imaginative, team-oriented and adventurous educator to teach in our Upper School Mathematics program. This program strives to provide all students with a greater appreciation for mathematics as a discipline and as an integral part of the world in which we live. The curriculum emphasizes the value and importance of mathematics in the mathematical sciences and other areas of study. Students are asked to actively participate in their work to develop a deeper understanding of mathematics. Throughout the curriculum there is an emphasis upon problem solving and student application of concepts to authentic problems. All math courses use computers and graphing calculators to store, access and analyze data. These and other appropriate technologies are regularly integrated into classes to extend student understanding of the concepts and process involved in the study of mathematics.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in the content area (advanced degree preferred). Experience: At least 3 years of full-time teaching experience in the content area with Upper School students. Equivalency: Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above.
