Gulliver School’s is presently looking for the position of Controller. This position is responsible for directing and managing the school’s accounting department and establishing and maintaining the school’s accounting policies and procedures.
Responsible for the day to day accounting functions which include: general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Additional responsibilities include financial responsibility for bookstore operations, cafeteria services, after school programs and summer/sports camps.
Drive financial analysis to optimize financial decisions for the school.
Develops and maintains policies and procedures for proper internal controls.
Coordinate accounting related procedures with all departments.
Direct monthly financial statement close process and all other financial reporting.
Review, analyze and interpret financial and budget reports. Compare performance with operating budgets and present results of operations to management.
Manage the annual independent audit in coordination with external auditors
Create reporting structures to support the school’s strategic and financial models and processes.
Drive the annual budget process for all departments
Actively engage with the CFO and COO and the Board of Trustees on all significant financial issues for the school.
Minimum of five to seven years of accounting, financial analysis and financial reporting experience as a rising senior account or controller. Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
Management experience. Strong people and managerial skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA and Master’s degree preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting related software and spreadsheets required along with database management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must to communicate with all levels of administration, management, staff, parents and vendors.
Outstanding analytical skills, be detail oriented, ability to motivate and guide staff, and provide creative solutions to financial related issues.
Additional hours as required in the evening and weekends to meet financial deadlines. Attendance at some school functions during and after school hours is an expectation of this position.
