This senior position is responsible for leading and implementing a comprehensive Institutional Advancement Program to support all aspects of philanthropic giving at the Academy of Notre Dame. This includes capital campaigns, major and planned giving, fundraising event planning, annual giving, alumni relations, trustee relations, and all other constituent relations related to school advancement and development.
The Director of Institutional Advancement (DIA) reports to the President. In addition to possessing integrity, personal warmth, and a strong work ethic, the DIA must actively model, support and advance the mission, vision and values of the Academy of Notre Dame and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. This position presents a unique opportunity to play a central role in this defining time in the life of the school.
Serve on the President’s senior staff and develop strong partnerships with the team and with all members of the Administration and Board of Directors.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with alumni, parents, faculty, staff and other constituents.
Build and enhance all aspects of philanthropic support by engaging the Advancement Team, trustees and others in the ongoing identification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship of donors and prospects.
Collaborate with the President, Board of Directors and Advancement Team to set annual goals for Institutional Advancement.
Manage appropriate staff and work across teams to advance the philanthropic goals of the school.
Prepare appropriate quarterly and annual reports to track progress and outline action items for advancement.
Manage a portfolio of key donors and solicit major gifts to support annual giving, major gift initiatives and planned giving.
Collaborate with the CFO to oversee appropriate record keeping of all gifts, and professional compliance with all school policies.
Other duties as assigned by the President.
The successful candidate will have held progressively responsible positions in school-based Institutional Advancement, and will demonstrate the experience and ability to:
Create a mission-based case for philanthropic support.
Lead a major gift effort and eventually a capital campaign.
Personally solicit gifts at all levels.
Work with a team of professional staff and support personnel.
Establish best practices in all areas of advancement operations.
Relate well to people from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
The Director of Institutional Advancement should possess superior skills in the following:
Oral and written communication
Organization and management
Software (Veracross, Sustain Software, MS Office, etc.), cloud-based resources and social media
The Director of Institutional Advancement is a full-time, twelve (12) month, exempt position eligible for benefits. The Director of Institutional Advancement is based in an office and school environment on a 200-acre campus in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts. The ability to occasionally lift files and storage boxes, walk up and down stairs, attend meetings in varying locations throughout campus, and continually use computers and related office equipment is required. Not all buildings on campus have elevators.
