Head-Royce school seeks a Middle and Upper School Mandarin Teacher for the 2018-19 academic year. The teacher will be responsible for teaching a comprehensive Mandarin curriculum in the Middle and/or the Upper School. Our 6-12 Chinese program includes a focus on developing oral proficiency, reading and writing skills, and an exploration of Chinese culture and history. Faculty serve as advisors, lead activities and/or community service opportunities, and participate actively in the life of the community. The School seeks applicants who have a strong academic background, experience in multicultural education, an understanding of adolescents, and a demonstrated genuine fondness for working with students.
Fluent in Mandarin
Demonstrated understanding of curriculum design, pedagogical approaches and developmental appropriateness, as well as different kinds and types of assessment
Strong collaborator, with willingness to reach outside to partner with colleagues to design curriculum, projects, activities, and experiences
Uses technology to enhance the learning experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese or equivalent area of study, MA Preferred.
Fluent speaker of Chinese
Familiarity with 21st Century Teaching Principles
Teaching experience at the middle and/or high school level
All persons hired will be required to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
