Poly Prep seeks applicants for Upper School Drama Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.
Poly Prep strives to provide a joyful, diverse, just and equitable education for our students. We seek an Upper School Drama Teacher with knowledge of and practice in theatre education, acting pedagogy, stage direction, and public speaking who is committed to promoting these values; and whose competence, integrity and collegiality will enrich our school and Performing Arts department.
Full-time schedule includes:
Teaching up to five classes/sections of drama and public speaking with a focus on general performance skills including, but not limited to, improvisation, acting technique and script analysis
Maintaining accurate grades, effectively communicating with students and families, and providing written and oral feedback on student progress consistently throughout the school year
Assisting students with preparation for college auditions
Directing and overseeing two full-scale theatre productions: a fall play and winter musical; and overseeing a spring student-directed senior project/production
Communicating with designers, families, faculty, and staff information related to all aspects of these productions, including rehearsals and performances
Coordinating production-related administrative tasks including, but not limited to, creating programs, reserving space, and coordinating schedules.
Advocating on behalf of arts education, Poly’s drama program and act as a representative of the Performing Arts Department within the community and beyond.
Generating happiness and a positive outlook on life and learning
Being an advisor for a group of students (7-10)
Advising a club or activity
Attending community events throughout the school year
Attending and contributing to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to: department, committee, division and grade-level meetings

The ideal candidate will have an Undergraduate and Graduate degree in Theatre and/or Theatre Education and teaching and directing experience is preferred.
