The Wellington School in Columbus, Ohio is seeking an enthusiastic head of middle school to begin July 1, 2018. Working with an outstanding and committed faculty and joining a forward-thinking school, we are seeking a person with an innovative and dynamic vision for all aspects of the middle school experience including middle school teaching and learning. Experience in leading and inspiring faculty, with ability and commitment to take our school to the next level are also critical to the position. As a community that embraces diversity and inclusion, the leader must be curious and bring knowledge and experience related to empathy, social-emotional learning, and effective problem-solving. Act as the educational leader of the middle school (grades 5-8).
Observe, supervise, inspire, guide, and evaluate faculty.
Maintain a visible presence in all areas of the school.
Communicate effectively about the division’s programs, initiatives, and community expectations.
Oversee co-curricular and extra-curricular activity programs.
Serve on the senior leadership team of the school.
Play an essential role in designing and maintaining the preschool-12 continuum.
Master's Degree preferred.
Significant experience in academic leadership.
Demonstrated experience working with middle school students, teachers, and parents.
Deep understanding of leading middle school curriculum.
Understanding of educational, physical, social, and psychological needs of adolescents.
Effective communication, including experience with written, verbal, and social media.
Comfort with and understanding of technology.
