The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks a head teacher for our lower division for an anticipated opening beginning in August 2018. Guided by the theory and practice of the Responsive Classroom, our lower school teachers focus on the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child to create a nurturing and stimulating environment in which to learn. In addition to providing inquiry based instruction in core content areas to students, homeroom teachers in grades one through five work collaboratively with special subject teachers in science, world languages, music, art, technology, library, and physical education to create integrated units of study.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in elementary education, three to five years previous teaching experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfort with integrating technology into the curriculum, interest in collaborating with colleagues, and a passion for working with children required.
