Columbus School for Girls seeks to hire a compassionate and exceptional School Nurse to begin immediately. CSG offers a competitive salary, benefits, and professional opportunities and welcomes candidates who add to the racial, cultural, religious, and gender diversity of the school community.
Major Functions and Responsibilities:
Administers basic health care and first aid for PK-12th grade students
Follows state and local health statutes and administrative guidelines
Serves as a medical resource and health advocate for students and staff
Provides appropriate health assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and medical referrals for students during routine visits and in emergency situations
Administers over-the-counter medication and supervises prescription medication
Oversees all aspects and components of the Nurse’s office and other emergency/medical equipment for school use
Works with others on the Emergency Management Team to implement and update the School’s Emergency/Crisis Response Plans
Collaborates closely with the school counselors and other members of the student support team to advocate on behalf of student social emotional needs
Assists in the development and revision of policies, procedures, and work standards for the school nursing program
Educates families through written communication and verbal contacts to encourage follow-through of health care referrals
Communicates regularly with students, staff, and parents/guardians regarding medication administration and other health-related issues
Maintains student's confidential files and records, and manages all data within the school health database and other digital platforms
Experience, Characteristics, Qualities:
Current licensure in Ohio as an RN
Minimum of an associate’s degree in Nursing; bachelor’s degree preferred
Strong candidates will have at least five years of experience in nursing, preferably in a pediatric and/or school setting
An understanding of the value of an all-girls education and the eagerness to learn about the best ways to help young women of promise to reach their full potential as learners and leaders
