Annie Wright is seeking a Lower & Middle School Counselor to begin on August 20, 2018.
Annie Wright Schools serve students from age three through high school. Annie Wright Lower and Middle Schools offer co-ed programs in Preschool through Grade 8, while separate Upper Schools for boys and girls offer day and boarding options in Grades 9 through 12.
Through leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the Lower & Middle School Counselor promotes equity and access to rigorous educational experiences for all students. The Counselor supports a positive learning environment for all members of the school community and addresses the needs of all students through culturally relevant prevention and intervention programs.
The Counselor provides support to all students through the social and emotional programming in the Lower School and co-teaches Physical & Health Education in the Middle School. The Counselor provides individual support to students as needed, and maintains appropriate communication and support for their families. When necessary, the Counselor refers families to outside counselors or psychologists for appropriate counseling or care, and the Counselor assists students, families, faculty, and administrators in creating and implementing support plans for students. The Counselor also provides parent education opportunities throughout the year and parent support as needed.
The ideal candidate holds a MA, relevant licensure in School Counseling or a related field, and experience working as a school counselor; demonstrates the ability to build rapport with Lower and Middle School aged students (Preschool-Grade 8), a high level of emotional intelligence, and experience collaborating with colleagues to support students and develop relevant programming; and demonstrates familiarity with current research and best practices in counseling, child development, social-emotional learning, and education.
