Job Description: The Director of Counseling and Wellness is responsible for providing individual counseling to students who need emotional support, and assisting with referrals to consulting psychologists/psychiatrists. The counselor is on-call and part of a team to address student needs and issues.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide emergency and short-term counseling support to students
Maintain accurate records and referral updates
Refer students to clinical professionals outside of Brandon Hall as needed
Collaborate with admissions as needed regarding “fit” of prospective students
Attend weekly Student Support Team Meetings
Assist students, faculty, and families with social and emotional support
Develop, implement, and support health and wellness programs for the BHS community
Consult and collaborate effectively with administrators, employees, and parents/guardians regarding students with identified concerns and needs
Advise and/or coordinate various student-led organizations, assemblies, and serve on institutional committees related to health and wellness
Conduct faculty, staff, and student leader in-service training and educational opportunities on mental health and wellness related topics
Work in conjunction with dorm leadership to support residential life-skills and wellness curriculum
Develop grade 6 – 12 advisory program
Serve as liaison with DFACS
Experience and skill treating eating disorders, mood disorders, substance abuse, post traumatic stress disorder, and interpersonal problems.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
Masters degree in counseling, psychology, or closely related field and 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
5 years Boarding School experience working with adolescents in multi-cultural communities including students with learning differences or giftedness.
Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administration in support of the mission of the school.
Proven success grant writing and designing school community and public purpose educational programs and speaker series.
Maintain professional licensure in the state of Georgia.
