Trinity Episcopal School is pleased to announce a Leadership Opportunity for July 2018:
The Assistant Head of School will report directly to the Head of School and will provide leadership and coordination for teaching and learning, including curriculum, program and professional development. The Assistant Head is a member of the TES Leadership Team, is the academic program liaison to the school community, chairs Academic Team meetings, supervises the work of school-wide positions such as the Director of Extended Day Programs and will create innovative after-school. summer and school vacation programs. In the absence of the Head of School, the Assistant Head of School oversees day-to-day operations.
Applicants must be knowledgeable in planning and implementing a strong academic program and have a teaching credential in their field of study. An advanced degree is preferred but not required. Previous experience at an independent school is a plus. Experience and qualifications:
Assist with the daily operations of the school
Articulate programs, expectations, and behavioral guidelines; oversee student behavior and discipline
Provide supervision and support to teachers
Consult with teachers in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general school procedures
Chair regular division meetings which deal with both routine school matters and with the stimulating exchange of ideas on issues of educational/philosophical interest and concern
Consult with Head of School on faculty evaluations
Consult with Head of School and Admissions Director on student placement
Provide academic guidance to students and parents
Coordinate and supervise the school’s standardized testing program
Curriculum Committee Coordinator
Coordinate school Vision/Hearing Screening
Assist Admissions Director with tours
In absence of Head of School, may be designated to make decisions in consultation with other coordinators, appropriate school offices, and Board Chair/President as appropriate
Ability to protect and handle student records and other highly confidential information
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
Ability to connect with a variety of people and constituencies within and outside of the school community
A collaborative leadership style
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including exceptional writing and speaking skills, and facility with media of all forms (social, print, broadcast, etc.)
Ability to model and exercise good judgment and discretion, and maintain complete confidentiality
Ability to work occasional evenings
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Senior Systems strongly preferred
Criminal background check and clearance required
