Squaw Valley Academy seeks to hire an experienced Spanish teacher, who will be responsible for teaching five classes per semester. AP experience is preferred. Average class size is 8-10 students. Candidates should have demonstrated success teaching to a range of learners and at least two years’ prior teaching experience. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching, effective classroom management skills with a knowledge of how to assess and grade students’ progress, the ability to develop educational programming, and a willingness to work with other teachers across disciplines.
All teachers are responsible for implementing the current curriculum, which is in line with the California state standards. Successful candidates will have experience with the thoughtful integration of technology in the classroom. They are also responsible for communicating with SVA administration, chaperoning daily afternoon activities, serving as a student advisor, leading a club, proctoring one study hall a week, and working one weekend per month. Boarding school experience is a plus. SVA seeks positive, enthusiastic, and versatile individuals who wish to become an active part of our learning community.
