Friends Select school seeks a full-time Upper School English teacher for the 2018-19 school year. The English program at Friends Select emphasizes close reading, analytical and creative writing, departmental collaboration, and a grasp of literature from many time periods and multicultural perspectives. The ideal candidate will be experienced in an independent school, will have familiarity with Quaker education, will be committed to social justice through literature, and will demonstrate a desire to connect with all students, faculty, and parents. There is the option of applying for the department chair with this position (but not mandatory).
Qualified candidates should have the ability to challenge students at the highest academic level as well as assist students who need more guidance. Other duties and responsibilities include student advising, club and committee involvement, and fulfillment of general faculty duties.
