World Languages Department Chair & US Spanish Teacher
Greens Farms Academy
February 6, 2018
Greens Farms, Connecticut
Full Time - Administration
4 Year Degree
Greens Farms Academy seeks an experience teacher and leader to serve as World Languages Department Chair (PreK-12) and an Upper School Spanish teacher to begin in August of 2018.
The ideal candidate will be a master teacher, with a strong background in Spanish (experience with French and/or Mandarin is a plus), at least five years of teaching experience, and a passion for working with high school students. All language classes are taught exclusively in the target language, and the department is committed to project-based learning, technological integration, communicative teaching, and thematic units; lower school classes incorporate the comprehensive input approach. The chair will model these practices in his or her own teaching, as well as mentor members of the department as they hone their skills.
As the leader of a thriving PreK-12 department, the chair will manage and inspire a team of 14 faculty members teaching Spanish, French, and Mandarin. Key responsibilities include promoting and refining a vision for language learning within our community, thinking strategically about the program across all three divisions, managing faculty on a day-to-day basis, supporting opportunities for professional growth, working with the administrative team on hiring and faculty evaluation, overseeing the departmental budget, managing the course placement process, connecting to peers at other schools, and being a spokesman for the school’s language program regionally and nationally. The chair reports to the Associate Head of School and works closely with the heads of the three divisions.
For all positions, we look for candidates who have demonstrated cultural competency and a commitment to fostering an inclusive community.
Greens Farms Academy is a PreK-12 co-educational day school of 715 students in the Greens Farms section of Westport, CT.
