Hudson Montessori School Middle School Faculty Member
Hudson Montessori School is seeking a middle school faculty member starting in August 2018. This individual would be responsible for guiding adolescents in areas such as humanities, language arts, and microeconomy (economics/entrepreneurship).
Founded in 1962, Hudson Montessori School serves children from 18 months through 8th grade. We currently have an adolescent program that serves ages 12-14.
The optimal candidate will help his/her students meet our school’s mission: to foster a Montessori educational environment conducive to each child's unique qualities and abilities for the development of social, emotional, and reasoning skills that are essential for a lifetime of independent, creative thinking and learning in the world community.
Major Roles and Associated Responsibilities
Deliver a fully-implemented Montessori experience to adolescent students.
Communicate and partner with parents on student progress.
Collaborate with faculty members on curriculum planning, assessment and student discussions.
Collaborate with admissions-team on recruitment, selection, and placement of prospective students.
Availability for extended out-of-town trips (at least 2 per year).
Occasional availability for weekend work related to the microeconomy and/or extracurricular activities.
Other duties as assigned by Head of School and/or Middle School Coordinator.
Qualifications and Characteristics
A strong commitment to the mission of Hudson Montessori School.
Montessori Adolescent training (AMI or AMS) is required. If you do not possess training, please explain in your cover letter why you would want to work in a Montessori adolescent program and seek training.
Experience teaching history and/or language arts.
Experience leading a Montessori classroom is preferred. Experience with children or adolescents is required.
