The Upper School (grades 9-12) seeks candidates for a newly created Academic Dean position. This Dean serves as the academic program leader of the division and is responsible for teaming with faculty and students to sustain and further develop a climate of sage leadership, collaborative scholarship, and thoughtful rigor. With numerous crucial collaborators, this role is responsible for the discernment, addition, revision and implementation of the Upper School’s academic policies and practices.
Ideal candidates will be well versed in progressive and mind brain education research as they relate to instructional practices and will be comfortable and competent in coaching faculty through professional development to evaluate and modify their teaching.
SSFS is eager to consider candidates from traditionally underrepresented groups.
Qualifications include: Master’s degree in educational administration, curriculum or a related field and a minimum of at least five years' experience teaching or administration, preferably in private secondary education. Exceptional administrative, management, and leadership skills are essential, as well as strong interpersonal skills, in order to work effectively with all stakeholders, including administration, faculty, parents, students, and program peers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Knowledge of Quaker beliefs and practices is helpful, but is not required.
