Barrow Street Nursery School seeks a Full-Time Enrichment Coordinator for the 2018 – 2019 school year to oversee our afterschool enrichment programs. This is an administrative position that also serves as classroom support when needed.
Though often logistical conversations, interactions with parents are opportunities to understand and educate parents about children’s social and emotional development and we seek someone who understands early childhood development and can create a safe and stimulating learning environment for children and teachers, as well as coordinate additional programs and projects at our school.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Afterschool Enrichment Coordinator:
Develops, schedules and manages a mission-appropriate Afterschool program that meets the needs of the families and children and achieves financial goals.
Continually reviews offerings and updates programming as needed [is the main quality control for this program].
Creates online class postings and manages online registration process [is the point of contact for families for the registration process].
Works with the Educational Director(s) to process refunds.
Maintains records of activity fees.
Hires and oversees all personnel and vendors.
Make sure all individual teachers are fingerprinted.
Inform them of the schedule, class size and any changes that occur in enrollment.
Communicates with parents regarding: class policies, their child’s registration and/or their child’s progress (if necessary).
Creates class lists for distribution to the teachers.
Attend and/or monitor afterschool classes from 12:00 - 1:00 and 3:00 - 4:00.
School Wide Communication: Prepare, review and edit a variety of school communication to current and prospective families, such as weekly school newsletter [to current parents]
Teacher record maintenance
Assist in coordinating school-wide functions, such as graduation or photo day
Assist with Special Projects or events as needed
Assist in classrooms as floating support when necessary
Bachelor’s Degree required
Prior programmatic and administrative experience in school programs preferred
Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred but not required.
Minimum of two years of experience working with young children.
Candidate’s pedagogy should be student-centered and practiced in differentiated instruction.
Cultural competence, a willingness to work closely with families and excellent listening skills are essential.
Strong organizational, interpersonal (adults and children), technological and communication (written and oral) skills.
Careful attention to accuracy, detail and visual presentation of materials.
Working history demonstrating flexibility, creativity, initiative and collaboration.
Resourcefulness in administrative tasks, but also an understanding of the dynamics of the school and the ability to proactively respond to a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and frequent deadlines.
Initiative, sound judgement and an ability to respond calmly and resourcefully in an environment with shifting priorities.
Understanding of the “big picture” and inter dependencies of the school.
