The Forman School (www.formanschool.org), a coeducational college preparatory boarding and day school serving 215 students, seeks a Director of Cognition & Learning. The school, founded in 1930 and located in Litchfield, CT, a beautiful New England village approximately an hour outside of Hartford, serves bright students with language based learning differences.

Administer psychoeducational/neuropsychological evaluations of students whose parents have requested and paid for this type of evaluation.
Review files of incoming students, both full and midyear. Create learning profiles for incoming students, both full and midyear.
Provide recommendations to the Director of Studies for Cognition & Learning classes for incoming students, both full and midyear.
Lead and direct meetings with the Cognition & Learning department, consulting with teachers about best practices, student needs, providing information and requests for department specific PD to the Dean of faculty.
Assist in the establishment of programs for the orientation of new teachers, for in-service training and for the evaluation of Cognition & Learning department, to ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school operation.
Assist in the admission process, review files to determine appropriateness of fit and academic programming for students making inquiries or applications. Assist with special events, (i.e., Open Houses, Revisit Day, Parents’ Weekend, and Graduation).
Proactively communicate with parents addressing concerns, as they arise, in regards to the Cognition & Learning department.
Conduct weekly student progress team meetings; this includes gathering information, preparing lists, disseminating lists, running meeting, disseminating notes following the conclusion of the meeting.
Complete screening of students when situation warrants regarding students seeking town funding. Participate in PPT/IEP meetings upon request.
Apply for accommodations on standardized tests, College Board, Act, and Cambridge International Examinations. Notify parents of the need for updated testing (for standardized tests or college accommodations).
Assist students when completing applications for support programs in college.
Final accommodations process, this includes a timeline of dates, deadlines, accommodations for all students, arranging proctors/student pairings for those testing outside of classroom.
Attend weekly Grade Level Deans meeting.
Member of the Curriculum Committee.
Member of Senior Staff.
Support the school and its leadership.
Ph.D. in psychology.
2+ years work experience.
Proficient in psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluations.
Proficient in the college accommodation process including standardized testing.
Attention to detail, excellent verbal and written skills.
