Sayre School’s English Department offers the opportunity to teach the way you’ve always wanted to teach. You’ll find small classes, an administration that encourages creativity and experimentation, and interesting colleagues devoted to their profession.
We’re looking for a teacher who believes even today that reading good books carefully and writing about complex ideas makes our lives better, if not happier. A teacher who believes that every student deserves full attention, that teachers should direct but not control the education of students, that they teach best, at least from time to time, who teach least. We’re looking for a teacher who is comfortable differentiating learning and assessment and who values diversity in the classroom.
You should have a Masters degree in English or English Education and several years of teaching experience at the high school or college level. Be able to both contribute meaningfully to the development of overall Department goals and to work independently. We are a laptop school, so we’ll be interested in hearing your ideas for incorporating technology into your classroom.
Please email a resume, statement of teaching philosophy and references to Tim O’Rourke, Head of Upper School at firstname.lastname@example.org.
