About The Greenwich Country Day School
The Greenwich Country Day School is an independent, co-educational day school with current enrollment of 900 students in grades N-9 and a faculty and staff of over 200. As of September 2019, GCDS will expand to include a high school program (GCDHS) for grades 9-12, resulting in a projected overall school enrollment of up to 1200. The new high school will be housed on a separate campus, less than two miles from our existing property.
Founded in 1926, The Greenwich Country Day School is a traditional family school where creative teaching is encouraged and used to foster a love of learning and motivate children toward academic excellence. The school’s emphasis on developing the whole child results in attention to the development of character, values, creativity, and sportsmanship along with strong academic skills.
GCDS is fortunate to have built a large endowment, which helps to fund competitive salaries and benefits for faculty, including reimbursement for graduate school tuition. The school provides housing for over 70% of the academic faculty and offers a robust professional development program. GCDS has a major commitment to programs for diversity, as well as a substantial need-based financial aid program for students.
