Cary Academy is seeking an accomplished, imaginative, team-oriented and adventurous educator to join our faculty as Library Director. The Library Director is responsible for developing and implementing an innovative, dynamic and responsive library program that is an essential part of the learning community and supports the mission and goals of the school. The Library Director works closely with the faculty to ensure that all students in all grades have access to the resources they need for discovery and development. These include books for reading, as well as a physical and virtual collection that is timely and relevant to research needs. The Library Director stays current on trends in schools and school libraries, focusing on technology and its relationship to information, as well as the development of the whole student in a resource-rich environment. The Library Director also oversees the day-to-day operation of the library facility. Education: Master of Science in Library Science required; bachelor’s degree with a subject specialty in the humanities or sciences strongly preferred. Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a full-time librarian at the Middle or Upper School level. Equivalency: Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above.
