Cheshire Academy seeks a full-time English teaching for the upcoming 2018-19 academic year.
Cheshire Academy seeks an experienced, collaborative, and energetic teacher to join the English Department beginning in the Fall of 2018. Cheshire Academy is a dynamic work environment. The school values flexibility and support from its teachers. An ability to differentiate instruction and work with students with various learning strengths is key. Our academic vision focuses on students becoming increasingly independent at observing, explaining, interpreting, analyzing, and reflecting on the world around them.
Other responsibilities include:
Coaching and/or leading extra-curricular activities;
Weekend team responsibilities;
Residential/dormitory duties (if you are a residential faculty member);
Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain an CT “A” endorsement for purposes of transporting students.
Salary and benefits are competitive. Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume, and the names of three professional references to Kristin Welage, Director of Human Resources at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Candidates must have a strong academic and/or professional teaching background in English and/or ESL. Ideal candidates will also have experience with the International Baccalaureate Program, as nearly all Cheshire Academy students take an IB course during their Junior and Senior years, and the IB’s pedagogical philosophy forms the backbone of our teaching across all grade levels. The Academy’s diverse student body has a large percentage of international students for whom English is not their native language, so experience and/or expertise working with language learners will distinguish a candidate’s application.
