About The Croft School
The Croft School is a new independent elementary in Providence, RI, opening in Fall 2018 to twenty kindergarten students. Over time, the school will grow into a 120-student K-5 school. Founded by dedicated and experienced educator Scott Given, The Croft School will deliver a personalized, rigorous, and joyful elementary school experience to its students. About The Role
The Croft School is seeking an exceptional Kindergarten Teacher to co-lead and co-teach the school’s inaugural kindergarten classroom. All Croft co-teaching teams are empowered to design and deliver their classroom’s instructional approach within five key tenets: a warm and joyful classroom climate, a balanced pedagogy, an emphasis on personalization, a mastery-based teaching and learning approach, and exceptional parent relationships and communication.
The ideal candidate will be committed to building deep relationships with their students and using that knowledge to create a personalized classroom that balances high-quality math, reading, and writing instruction, project-based learning, experiential trips, social-emotional development, and purposeful play.
Qualifications and Qualities
2+ years of early elementary education experience, ideally in a kindergarten classroom with a demonstrated record of high student engagement and achievement.
A contagious love for teaching, children, and nurturing students’ natural curiosity, instilling in them a lifelong passion for learning.
An entrepreneurial spirit coupled with an ambitious work ethic, as well as a natural desire to go above and beyond to serve students and their families in both expected and unexpected ways.
Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, inclusive of empathy for others, thoughtful listening, team-orientation, and enthusiasm for being part of a co-teaching environment.
Self-reflectiveness, humility, and an eagerness to continually improve one’s practice.
A strong desire to remain in this role for 5+ years.
Strong ties and/or a long-term commitment to Rhode Island.
A Bachelor’s Degree and current authorization to work in the United States is required.
