The faculty and staff at The Governor's Academy constitute a dedicated group of professionals who provide our students with the academic, artistic, athletic and personal challenges and opportunities that can only be offered by a small school with a close-knit community. Most of our faculty members live on campus. All of our faculty and staff interact with students in the classrooms, dining hall, athletics fields, dormitories, and offices, as well as on the paths and walkways that connect us on our 500-acre campus.
This full-time position reports to the Director of Admission and assists with all aspects of the Academy’s admissions and recruitment process. Campus housing may be available.
Conduct interviews, representing The Governor's Academy in a positive and honest manner.
Attend secondary school fairs, visit consultants, schools, alumni and parents, promoting The Governor's Academy and exchanging information with interested parties. Travel can range from regional to international.
Participate in the planning and execution of Open House and Revisit Days.
Serve on the Admissions Committee, making recommendations on the candidacy of applicants.
Perform other faculty duties as assigned by the Head of School and/or Dean of Faculty.
1 season of afternoon program
Bachelor’s degree; 3-5 years experience in an Admissions Office; knowledge of independentand/or boarding school life preferred; must be a self starter; able to work without supervision; exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail; abilityto make decisions;must beableinteract professionally with all members of the community; excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to work collaboratively in a group setting; pleasant and outgoing personality essential; some travel required; must enjoy working with young people in a boarding school environment. Must be able to work collegially; must be committed to working in a diverse community and have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations; must enjoy working with young people in a boarding school environment. Must have a valid driver’s license and must successfully complete a CORI/fingerprinting check.

GovsPLUS (Powerful Learners Unlocking Success) is a tuition-free academic enrichment program which partners The Governor’s Academy with motivated 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from local underserved areas with a goal of helping all students reach their potential in and out of the classroom. GovsPLUS students strengthen academic skills, build self-confidence, and p...articipate in formative service and experiential learning opportunities. The program begins with an in-depth summer experience where students spend mornings in problem solving and communications classes and afternoons engaged in enrichment activities which may include recreational sports, visual and performing arts, or service learning. On Fridays, students, faculty, and staff take field trips to area locations like museums or college campuses. GovsPLUS students continue their relationship with the Academy throughout the academic year with monthly occasions to reconnect and enjoy enrichment activities together including tackling ropes course challenges, creating original art works, and serving the community.
