The Northwest School seeks a Summer Camp and Extended Learning Director who manages all dimensions of The Northwest School’s Summer Camp and extended learning programs, which include after school care, enrichment courses, and spring break camps. Additionally, this position manages the spirit wear store and logistics for Summits, a two-week intensive course during the academic year.
The Northwest School summer camp has existed for over 30 years and serves youth ages 10-16 from around the world. Campers choose from a wide range of classes including visual and performing arts, athletics, and sciences and the camp program embodies the school philosophy and mission.
Oversee and manage all aspects of the summer camp and extended learning programs including program planning, course offerings and curriculum, scheduling, enrollment, marketing, staffing and daily operations.
Develop and nurture partnerships with area schools and international agents to promote enrollment as well as participation in the summer internship (for high school students)
Recruit, hire, and train instructors, staff, and interns.
Collaborate with the Director of Communications on the development of annual marketing materials for local and international recruiting.
Coordinate program plans with other departments, including Transportation, Dining Room, Dormitory, Business Office, and Human Resources.
Develop and nurture partnerships with local organizations for effective outreach and curriculum development
Serve as the logistics and operations coordinator for the two-week immersion courses known as Summits with a focus on process simplicity.
All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
A Bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
Experience working with international youth, especially English Language Learners.
Demonstrated experience in designing, coordinating, and implementing curriculum.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
A master’s degree
Fluency in a second language other than English
