Director of Advancement
Buckingham Friends School (BFS) is seeking an experienced and dynamic educator to fill the position of Director of Advancement. This position is a full time, twelve month position and reports to the Head of School. BFS is a Kindergarten-8th grade coeducational Quaker School located in historic Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The School operates under the auspices of the Buckingham Meeting and is in its original location since 1794. The student body of 130 students is a very close-knit community in which families are well engaged. Design and manage a comprehensive advancement program to ensure maximum financial support for the school. This program will include annual fund solicitation; planned giving programs; corporate and foundation proposals; planning for major capital gifts, and special events.
Cultivate a long-term relationship with key donors in partnership with the Head of School.
Research donors as part of the comprehensive advancement program.
Honor longstanding school traditions while balancing the introduction of new events and initiatives.
Develop, oversee, and implement programs to increase alumni and parental support of, and involvement in, the institution.
Oversee processing of all gift income for the purpose of providing receipts and maintaining giving records of donors to the school
Oversee a program of school promotion, including advertising, publication placement, and community contact, that maximizes qualified inquiries to the school.
Assist the Head of School, Director of Admissions, and relevant staff to ensure effective communication with prospective families.
Work with staff to develop materials that will most efficiently and effectively communicate with various constituencies (including Keeping Posted, Just the Facts, the school website, social media, and Seedlings).
Contribute to public relations and communications efforts in the event of emergency or crisis.
Serve as staff support for the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees, PTAC, and the Strategic Plan Implementation Committee-Campus.
Supervise the Events Coordinator and the volunteer staff to carry out the activities of this office.
Work in collaboration with the Business Office, Advancement Committee, and Head of School to communicate the work of the Advancement Office.
Support the school and its leadership.
Cultivate community relations by nurturing families with care and ongoing communication from initial contact through graduation in partnership with the faculty and administrative team.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Attend faculty meetings and administrative team meetings.
Attend assemblies, meetings for worship, and other school events activities as a member of the community.
Support the School and its leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School
Partner with the Head of School to plan fundraising trips.
A Bachelor’s degree is required; however, a Master’s degree and/or educational administration is preferred.
A minimum of three to five years work experience in an academic setting.
Proven verbal and written communications skills.
Strong technology skills and end-user facility with office software and database systems, including social media.
Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills.
Work in a fast-pace environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
Model integrity, curiosity, responsibility, effort, creativity and respect for all persons as well as an active appreciation for learning, ethnic, cultural, religious and gender diversity.
