St. Paul’s School announces a search for the position of Humanities Teacher to begin duties in late March 2019. This is a spring term appointment to fill the need created while a faculty member is on sabbatical. This position requires a desire to embrace the unique Humanities model at St. Paul’s School, which includes a primary focus on the integration of English and History and a secondary focus on other disciplines (religion, philosophy, political science, geography, and others), a background in global studies, and familiarity with classroom technology. The position requires experience in and a commitment to an active learning classroom and backwards design planning. Humanities teachers place a priority on development of skills related to rigorous classroom discussion of course content, scholarly research, writing, and critical reading and reasoning.
The faculty member will teach four sections of the Humanities core curriculum. Faculty members in the Humanities Division value collegiality; candidates for a Humanities Division position must be willing to work closely with a team of teachers. As with all positions, St. Paul’s Schools seeks innovative educators who are eager to participate in the academic and co-curricular life of this dynamic residential community. Participation in advising and coaching responsibilities is not required for this term teaching position.

Master’s Degree (or higher) preferred; two or more years teaching experience in a Humanities curriculum preferred. Lively interest in current pedagogy and scholarship. As part of residential boarding school, the candidate must be interested in working and living with adolescents.
