This is a 10-month, full time position that boasts comprehensive benefits and a salary commensurate with experience.
The Teaching Assistant:
Maintains a clean and orderly classroom as directed by the Head teacher that aligns with the Montessori philosophy
Maintains a safe and stimulating environment for the children that aligns with the Montessori philosophy.
Assists children with all physical needs to be safe and clean in a respectful manner.
Maintains, prepares or makes materials and environment as requested by the teacher.
Participates in school functions and evening events as requested by Head of School.
Assists in duties beyond the classroom as requested by Head of School.
Assists all children who need guidance and direction in hallways, playgrounds and changing of classes or programs.
Reads and abides by the policies and procedures of Gladwyne Montessori School.
Engages children in peaceful, effective positive behavior support.
Must be able to:
lift up to 35 pounds
sit comfortably on the floor with children and on low chairs
bend, squat, kneel with ease
Move and organize classroom tables and chairs, move about the building as needed
Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience working with children in a Montessori environment
Must have Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or related discipline
Must have knowledge of minimum standards, health and safety practices, social and emotional development and classroom management
Must be reliable, flexible, positive, patient, warm and enthusiastic about working as part of a team of adults and engaging with families
Must have a willingness and interest in pursuing Montessori teaching credential
