Purnell School seeks History teacher for grades 9 - 12.
Responsibilities will include:
Provide effective and supportive instruction for students with diverse learning profiles including learning disabilities and ADHD.
Provide support to several students as their Advisor, the main communicative link between students and their families.
Work collaboratively with faculty and administrators.
Demonstrate a sincere interest in teaching and learning and a positive growth mindset.
Contribute to the life of the school outside the classroom.
Support the mission of the Purnell School to teach girls who learn differently to grow intellectually and flourish personally.
Most faculty live in campus housing or in the dormitory as a hall parent. Faculty are required to work approximately 8-10 weekends throughout the school year as residential supervision and a trip chaperone.
Successful candidates will possess at least a bachelor’s degree in History or related field and/or special education. Minimally, 3 years of experience in a secondary school setting with students in these grades is ideal. Interest in and commitment to learning differences and girls’ education are a plus. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
