The Children’s School seeks an experienced full-time Middle School Counselor to start August 2018. The mission of The Children’s School is to enrich minds and inspire dreams. TCS is a progressive elementary/middle school serving students from age three through eighth grade in a diverse community in midtown Atlanta. Grounded in principles of excellence, innovation, and play, our graduates are passion-driven young adults who lead lives of purpose in an interconnected world.
Reporting to the Assistant Head of School, the Middle School Counselor works collaboratively with faculty and parents to support students. A team approach is used in student support, fostering a shared view of academic, cognitive, social and emotional perspectives. The Counselor maintains a visible and active presence in the classroom and implements the Building Character and Community (BCC) curriculum.
A Master’s degree in school counseling, social work or educational psychology, or a related field, is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. A minimum of three years of experience as counselor in a school setting. Independent school experience at a middle school level is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work within a Team support model. Flexible, energetic, and positive approach to work.
Understands the development of children and adolescents. The ability to lead and work confidentially and effectively with faculty, students, parents and staff.
Additional Salary Information:
Compensation will be based on experience.
