Poly Prep Country Day School announces a search for a Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist.
Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist. The Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist is an integral member of the learning support department.
Work with students in grades 5-10 to provide support in small groups as well as individually;
Teach classes to help students in grades 6 through 8 learn essential executive function skills;
Teach and develop curricula for focused remedial classes to help those who need more structured supports;
Work in our Learning Center to provide help on a drop-in basis;
Collaborate with teachers to help meet the needs of all learners in the classroom;
Advise and mentor 8-12 middle school students throughout the year;
Participate in some extracurricular activity with the students, as a part of the country day model;
Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and parents;
Work collaboratively with others in the department to further the Learning Support Initiative.
Attend community events throughout the school year
Attend and engage in meetings during and after the day, including but not limited to: department, committee, division and grade level meetings.

Requirements include a Masters degree and a minimum of 2-4 years working in a learning support capacity. The ideal candidate will also have teaching experience as well as experience conducting professional development workshops. The position requires a passion for teaching and learning, enthusiasm for working with students, families and colleagues, flexibility and a sense of humor. Qualified applicants will have strong written and oral communication skills, a willingness to use technology, a commitment to professional development and proven success and desire to work in a collaborative environment.
