The Elementary School Division Lead is the leader of the faculty and program of our innovative Children’s School (lower school, age 3-5th grade). A part time administrator and teacher, the Division Lead Teacher spends a portion of the school day (approximately 30-40% time) devoted to teaching and/or auxiliary duties as assigned by the Head of School. During administrative time, the division lead is responsible for assisting the Academic Dean in maintaining congruency between the school’s board-approved mission and all activities of that division.
Serves as the Educational Leader of the division
Communicates a deep knowledge of CSS programs, curriculum, educational philosophy, and pedagogy to the internal and external community, and artfully promotes key differentiators relative to other educational options.
Facilitates a shared vision, consistent with the all-school vision, within his/her division, and consistently guides, motivates and directs faculty toward this vision.
Actively leads his/her division in an ever-present mission to improve the student experience and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of institutional processes.
Provides faculty with feedback about their educational effectiveness.
Engenders a healthy, educational, Community Atmosphere
Ensures a physically and emotionally safe learning environment for students and staff.
Promotes high academic, behavioral, and professional standards for students and staff.
Supports, mentors, inspires and provides feedback to staff as they strive to improve their impact on the CSS community.
Appropriately balances institutional goals and needs with individual teacher autonomy.
Addresses issues of student misconduct/discipline for the betterment of the CSS community and the individual(s) involved.
Responds objectively and proactively to parent questions/concerns within his/her division and keeps parents apprised of significant incidents (positive or negative) involving their children.
Kindles authentic and positive relations with students, faculty, and parents within the division.
Contributes to smooth school operations by providing Logistic Support
Plans, coordinates, and orchestrates student, staff, and parent events within his/her division, interfacing with other Division Leads as appropriate.
Assists the Academic Dean and Director of Student Programs in curriculum development, program evaluation, personnel management, emergency procedures, professional days, calendar and schedule creation, resource scheduling, community relations, and overall planning for the division.
Assists the Director of Admission with events, tours, and applicant interviews, evaluations, and screenings.
Oversees the divisional budgets and confers with the Academic Dean regarding significant atypical expenses.
Teaches classes or is otherwise directly involved with students in delivering school program.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean and Head of School
Requirements: a bachelor’s degree in Education and a track record of successful teaching and leadership at the elementary school level. Graduate degree(s) are preferred. CSS teachers and administrators have a firm understanding of academic, social, and emotional development in addition to an innovative mindset with strong skills in communication, collaboration, project-based learning, and technology.
