Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a committed professional to provide individual and group counseling to adolescent students beginning in the 2017-2018 school year. As a member of NMH Health Services, the position works collaboratively and consults with the Heath Center's other mental health conselors, NMH's consulting psychiatrist, and Health Services staff to support faculty, Deans, and other professional staff in their work with students; we work together to promote community understanding of the mental health issues affecting adolescents. The counselor may lead occasional dorm-based or faculty discussions on adolescent issues and serves as a member of the mental health crisis response team.
The successful candidate must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and will preferably have a master's in clinical social work or an advanced degree in counseling psychology with a specialization or interest in adolescents and multicultural counseling. Additional qualifications include: at least five years of previous counseling experience; strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations.
