Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12 on a 125 acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy is seeking a computer science teacher for a possible full-time position beginning in September 2017.
The teacher will be responsible for teaching between three and five programming classes and working with students beyond the classroom, including supporting robotics, hackathons, handheld development and more. A strong candidate will have a high aptitude and interest in technology (hardware and software), have coding background, and have the capability to teach programming to students in grades 9-12.
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics or a related field is required and a master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of three years teaching computer science and/or mathematics at the secondary or collegiate level is also required, but teacher certification is not. Demonstrated ability working in a diverse community is essential.
All teachers advise 6-8 students. Teachers are also expected to advise a student activity or coach a team or intramural sport, in addition to other responsibilities. Faculty members residing on campus typically live and work in a dormitory and all have responsibilities in the residential program.
