Montclare Children’s School prides itself on offering a strong, balanced curriculum, featuring a teacher-guided approach with developmentally, age-appropriate activities integrated throughout the weekly schedule. Our more traditional approach establishes an excellent foundation, fostering the growth of the whole child and providing the skills children need for future academic success and a life-l...ong love of learning. Our students are supported socially, emotionally, physically and academically during their time at Montclare, and leave here ready for Kindergarten.
In Montclare’s teacher-guided classrooms, teachers provide thoughtful structure, planning and guiding activities for the children. A certain amount of time in each classroom time is devoted to learning, whether about letters and sounds, distinguishing shapes and colors, telling time, or other skills.
Preschool is also a critical time for children to learn social and emotional skills that will help support them develop an awareness of their emotions and of the feelings of those around them. Preschoolers want to be helpful and our teachers give our students ample opportunities to take on roles in the classroom: Line leader, Snack Helper, Door Holder, etc. These roles bolster self-confidence and a sense of competence and self-worth.
Montclare’s teacher-guided philosophy engages and stimulates children’s intellectual curiosity while imparting essential social skills. Our children move on to Kindergarten ready to learn.
