St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for a Middle School Drama Teacher and Theater Director. This is a full-time position beginning in August, 2017. Candidates should possess the ability to teach beginning drama and acting classes in the Middle School. Additionally, candidates should have experience teaching creative writing and script writing. Successful candidates will bring an educational vision for articulating elective opportunities for middle school students within the dramatic arts.
Additionally, as Theater Director, candidates should have experience directing a variety of performances with middle school students, including musicals, dramatic plays, and one-acts. Candidates will be responsible for managing an artistic staff as part of the productions.
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to create developmentally appropriate curricula, establish a supportive and engaging classroom environment for students, and work collaboratively with colleagues and parents/guardians. Successful candidates will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. In addition, candidates should otherwise contribute to the life of the school outside the classroom. Training and experience in Developmental Designs for Middle School preferred. Candidates should support the mission of SPA and the vision of the Middle School.
