Athens Academy Upper School Mathematics Teacher
Athens Academy is a co-educational, non-sectarian, independent college preparatory day school of approximately 965 students in grades K3-12 that offers a traditional liberal arts curriculum and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Athens Academy seeks a creative, collaborative, and versatile mathematics teacher, beginning in the 2017-18 school year. This full-time position will require teaching a range of courses at the college preparatory and/or honors levels. A competitive candidate will consistently approach curriculum topics from an algebraic and graphical standpoint, and can use a variety of instructional methods and strategies to address a variety of learning styles. The TI Nspire and TI Navigator technology are an integral part of Athens Academy’s math curriculum, and training in this technology will be provided. In addition to being an exceptional teacher, the ideal candidate must be supportive, organized, and able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators. As in most independent schools, Upper School teachers will typically have additional responsibilities, including but not limited to advisory, club sponsorships, study hall supervision, and coaching.
Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in mathematics and/or math education.
