Under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for all strategic alumni programming, including fundraising, communications and events. This individual is part of the school’s advancement team and involved with all development-related activities, including the Annual Fund, campaigns, the Parents’ Association, and annual school events.
Coordinate and implement all alumni events, including annual reunion, the 50-year anniversary alumni event at commencement, Founder’s Day, Alumni Basketball, Alumni Preview of the Fall Musical, Career Exploration Day, and more.
Implement alumni communications, including alumni newsletter, Web site and other content; fundraising; and event promotion.
Assist in evolving the school’s social media strategy for alumni and contribute content to various channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Flickr.
Personally cultivate and solicit alumni gifts for the Annual Fund, campaigns and special initiatives.
Develop programming and relationships with Upper School students to instill understanding of the significance of becoming alumni.
Develop programs to connect alumni with current students.
Recruit alumni volunteers for fundraising,
Lead alumni content creation for Buckley’s Community magazine.
Recruit keynote speakers for Commencement, the National Honor Society induction ceremony and other events as requested.
Manage the Beyond Buckley internship and networking program.
Maintain photo archives.
Bachelors degree (Masters preferred)
3 to 5 years of alumni relations and/or development experience, preferably in a non-profit and/or educational environment
Demonstrated cultural competency skills and leadership in the areas of diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
The candidate must have familiarity with annual giving, endowments, capital campaigns, and planned giving
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Knowledge of and willingness to work with technology, specifically word processing (Microsoft Office preferred), Internet navigation, databases, and e-mail correspondence.
Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
Flexibility to occasionally work long hours, including attendance at weekend and evening events.
