Greens Farms Academy seeks an Upper School Global Studies Teaching Fellow to begin in August 2017. Teaching fellows teach a reduced courseload and contribute to other aspects of independent school life: leading clubs and activities, chaperoning trips, and possibly coaching. The position will include several sections of Big History, a ninth-grade interdisciplinary course drawing on the humanities and science to explore history from the Big Bang to the present; the ability to teach more traditional history courses, economics, and other offerings in the social sciences is a plus. The teacher will join an innovative and collaborative Global Studies Department, which offers a track for graduating students to write a Global Thesis and earn a diploma with a concentration in Global Studies. The ideal candidate will have a background in humanities and science, an interest in interdisciplinary learning, some experience in and a passion for working with young people, and a commitment to fostering a diverse community. Teaching fellowships are generally two-year positions and offer relatively new teachers opportunities for mentorship and professional growth.
