In this newly created full-time position, the primary responsibility will be coordination of the financial aid process including (1) collection of supporting documentation, (2) establishing and communicating deadlines, (3) evaluation of need against established criteria and approved budget, (4) performing analysis of financial documentation, and (5) serving on and recommending awards to the Financial Aid Committee.
Process financial aid applications through the financial aid process. Communicate directly with families to ensure all required documentation is received in a timely manner, is accurate, and request additional clarifying information as necessary.
Analyze family submissions into the financial aid system, make adjustments as necessary, and determine eligibility for financial aid through the calculation of an Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
Generate summaries of financial aid applications and provide to the Financial Aid Committee in preparation for committee meetings. Attend all committee meetings. Input final award decisions into financial aid system. Prepare financial aid award letters to families.
Support financial aid process by analyzing new information provided by families during the award appeal process for re-evaluation of financial aid awards.
Create summary management reports to assess the effectiveness of financial aid program, and track the history of financial aid awards.
Evaluate available financial aid systems and make recommendations for improvements in current systems and processes.
Stay abreast of current developments in financial aid administration.
Other Business Office projects and duties as assigned.
1-2 years related experience with the financial aid process in an independent school or college/university setting
Skilled in the use of technology
