The long-term AP Computer Science substitute teacher will develop, implement, and assess AP Computer Science lessons for students in grades 10-12 during the Secondary School’s winter trimester, approximately from January 3, 2017 to March 17, 2017. Teaching assignment will include 1 section of high school AP Computer Science. Other responsibilities may include attending department and faculty meetings, and other meetings as needed for student support.
Responsibilities include guiding students to prepare for the AP Computer Science exam. The selected candidate will be tasked with creating fun and exciting CS projects: Arduino or Raspberry Pi. Maintains an organized assignment calendar and grade book in Oakwood School’s LMS. Maintains regular communication with student-support team members: parents, teachers, student services, deans, and other administrators.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field and 5+ years of experience teaching High School Computer Science, preferably AP Computer Science. Experience in Java or other object-oriented programming language.
