The Episcopal School of Knoxville seeks a dynamic and innovative leader in elementary education to serve as the school’s next Lower School Director. Reporting to the Head of School and serving on the senior administrative team, the Lower School Director oversees the operations and life culture of the elementary division, and leads a collaborative faculty team in the best interest of each child. As an ambassador of the school’s mission, the Director is well versed in elementary curriculum, differentiated learning styles, and best practices in child development, pedagogy, and educational technology. The Lower School Director exhibits energy and excitement for elementary education, as well as the school’s vision for excellence in Faith, Knowledge, and Culture.
Currently enrolling 187 students in grades JK3-Four, ESK’s Lower School offers a child-centered program while fostering a strong sense of community. Students are enriched with core educational principles, opportunities for service learning, as well as a diversified offering of support classes including world languages, gardening, and fine arts. While the majority of the students are not Episcopalians, the culture of the denomination is celebrated through daily chapel services, weekly religion classes, and monthly Eucharist celebrations. The school’s culture is grounded in the teachings and practices of Tribes Learning Communities and Artistry for Learning. The next Lower School Director is a collaborative figure in tying the school’s mission elements into a successful vision for the Lower School program.
The Lower School Director leads the elementary program in its growth and development, and communicates these advancements to all of its constituents. The Director conducts the professional supervision and development of the Lower School faculty and support staff, coordinates the curriculum in alignment with the Middle School program, builds the master schedule of all elementary classes, and manages student expectations and support needs. The Lower School Director is also a member of the admissions team, and supports the school in its extra curricular and advancement events.
