Chartwell is a private school on the Monterey Peninsula serving students K-12, who have been identified as having a specific language-based learning difference, including dyslexia. We are seeking applications for the following positions:
Substitute Teachers (all areas) for the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school year.
Middle School/High School Math Teacher potential opening for the 2017/18 school year.
Middle School/High School Reading or Writing Specialist potential opening for the 2017/18 school year.
Successful candidates will be dynamic, collaborative, inspirational and tech savvy educators. All applicants must have an academic background that includes an undergraduate degree. Ideally this would be combined with: a California teaching credential, qualifications in Special Education and Orton -Gillingham training.
Successful applicants will:
Have a track record of excellent teaching.
Have an interest in and experience with students who have language-based learning differences like dyslexia.
Have an interest in and experience with active, engaged, collaborative, and personalized learning.
Be innovative in the integration of computer technology into their teaching.
Be innovative, creative and visionary in program planning and curriculum design.
Have evidence of collaborative planning within and across courses and departments.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to the co-curricular life of the school. Candidates with experience and qualifications in coaching [and other co-curricular activities] will be given special consideration. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience; medical benefits are included.

The mission of Chartwell School is to diagnostically educate students with specific learning variations, including dyslexia, in a way that provides them with the academic skills, confidence, creativity and perseverance necessary to meet the challenges of mainstream education and lifelong learning.
Our students have average or better intelligence but may have struggled in traditional classrooms ...due to dyslexia or other learning disabilities and academic challenges. We provide co-ed students ages 5-18 with the skills, knowledge, and tools they need to succeed.
