Gann Academy seeks a history teacher for the 2017-2018 academic year who is committed to collaborating, reflecting and growing in their teaching practice, supporting diverse learners in the classroom, and connecting with students outside the classroom, both formally and informally. Our departmental learning outcomes emphasize historical thinking skills, historical empathy, and civic responsibility. Our pedagogy is student-centered.
The mission of Gann Academy is to educate, to inspire, and to empower intellectually confident, passionately engaged, ethically responsible Jews who, through critical thinking and the contribution of their unique voices, will create a vibrant Jewish future and build a better world where human dignity will flourish.
It is an exciting time to join the Gann community. In its 20th year, Gann is mission-driven and innovative. Current goals include strengthening our history curriculum in World History, as well as building on our current work in the History Department on project-based learning. The successful candidate will join a school deeply invested in teacher development and reflective teaching practice. Gann offers competitive compensation and a collaborative work environment.
Please send cover letter and resume to HR@gannacademy.org.
Five years teaching experience is preferred. A strong background in World History and US History is required.
