Fredericksburg Academy, the leading college preparatory school in the area, is seeking a full-time Upper School Chemistry and Biology teacher beginning in August 2017. Candidates should have a passion for helping students reach their full potential, a demonstrated desire for professional growth, and a willingness to participate in co-curricular activities within the school. The Upper School (grades nine through twelve) provides students with an age appropriate, challenging, college-prep curriculum. Responsibilities include preparation and teaching of the following courses: Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Biology. Fredericksburg Academy is a BYOD school- a high level of technological proficiency and demonstrated use of technology within the learning environment is preferred. Additional responsibilities include serving as an advisor and assisting with student activities. Seeking candidates who can also serve as coaches during one of our three athletic seasons. All faculty and staff are expected to support and participate in admissions and development events throughout the year.
Candidates will have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience at the upper school level. A master’s degree is preferred but not required. Successful candidates must also demonstrate proficiency and creativity in integrating technology in their instruction and use various methods of instruction in their classroom teaching. Successful candidates will have developed a thoughtful teaching practice, hold a deep love and understanding of Upper School students, and understand that teachers at the Upper School level serve as role models and educators both inside and outside the classroom.
