Position Scope and Responsibilities: The Principal of the Elementary School will be a member of the educational leadership team that includes the other two division Principals; Principal of Digital Learning and Technology; Principal of Learning, Teaching and Innovation; and the Head of School. The Principal of the Elementary School, working in collaboration with members of the professional community, will be responsible for:
Leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the division with empathy, skill, compassion, humor, and a commitment to the greater good
Leading all constituencies in creating a positive, nurturing learning environment that respects both the needs of the individuals and of the community by building a culture of trust, partnership and support
Connecting authentically and joyfully with students, understanding the importance of each student being known and supported, and supporting the needs of a diverse student population
Partnering effectively and genuinely welcoming input from a wide spectrum of perspectives to make clear, thoughtful decisions that are skillfully communicated
Leading with vision and creativity in the resolution of issues, realization of initiatives and in forwarding of the school’s mission
Clearly articulating and skillfully communicating the vision of the school and decisions made to inspire both internal and external constituents
Serving as a resource, support, and guide to faculty on their work with children and families, curricular matters, and their ongoing growth as professionals
Empowering faculty to innovate and make decisions that align with the student's needs and the school's approach
Working with the faculty to ensure effective and consistent communications with the parents of each and every student
Appreciating, welcoming and supporting the parents’ role in their children’s learning and growth and overseeing the support of individual students and their parents on matters of concern
Collaborating with teachers and the educational leadership team to ensure that the educational program is coherent, continues to develop, is aligned across the school, and meets the needs of all students
Working with the leadership team to create, modify, and implement faculty evaluation, support and induction programs that seek to ensure teachers are striving towards excellence and have the resources to succeed
Partnering with school leadership to develop and implement a budget that balances the multiple needs of the division
