Primary responsibility of the Director of Annual Giving is the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive annual giving program, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of development services and donor relations. Specifically, the Director of Annual Giving develops and implements strategies and programs that include the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual gifts from trustees, alumnae, parents, faculty/staff, students, and friends. Working with the Director of Institutional Advancement, plans, develops and implements a strategic plan of action with objectives, timelines and evaluation plans for annual giving for each constituency.
Develops a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support.
Provides strategic direction and long-range/short-range planning for all these areas in the context of growing the annual giving program while supporting the greater development and campaign goals of Lauralton Hall.
Focuses on effective communication and solicitation activities within specific market segments identified as having potential for the greatest growth.
Plans and implements all annual giving programs including parents and faculty/staff campaigns, class agent program, senior gift, Reunion Giving and other programs
Provides support and direction to Class Agents in order to attain class goals, including orientation of new agents, Class Agent reporting, and other related materials.
Drafts and executives a communications program supporting annual giving including but not limited to the acknowledgement and recognition of all annual giving, including the annual report to the donors.
Works effectively with other members of the Advancement team including alumnae relations, and marketing & communications to gain strong participation in annual giving and build strategies for moving donors to higher giving levels.
Works collaboratively with the Director of Alumnae Relations and other members of the Advancement team to coordinate annual giving with reunion campaigns and other specialty constituents, such as trustees and Alumnae Association Executive Board members, in a sophisticated and effective fashion.
Manages a prospect pool with annual goals for personal visits and giving outcomes.
Demonstrated analytical and fund raising skills with the ability to recognize opportunities, identify critical, high pay-off activities and prioritize them to attain goals.
An energetic, results-oriented individual who works effectively with all people at all levels of the organization.
Powerful communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Ability to listen carefully to and understand customers’ needs, both internally and externally, and proactively respond to those needs in a consistent and timely manner.
Willingness and ability to travel and to work nights and weekends, as required.
Strong computer skills. Experience using Raisers Edge a plus though not required.

Understanding of database management, gift processing and donor relations.
