Atlanta Girls’ School is the only independent school for girls in Atlanta, serving girls in grades 6–12. POSITION OVERVIEW Essential Employee The Director of Admissions is a member of the senior leadership team of the school, reporting to the Head of School. The Director will ensure success of Atlanta Girls' School by creating and directing a school and community wide admission and plan that supports the school’s mission, strategic enrollment goals, and brand awareness campaign. The Director supervises Associate Director of Admission and serves as a member of the Financial Aid Committee and the Board of Trustees Marketing Committee. Reports to: Head of School PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Admission Responsibilities: • Develops, executes, assesses Office of Admission policies and procedures, strategies, and goals. • Coordinates enrollment goals with senior leadership team and leads enrollment management initiatives that engage the entire school community. • Manages and participates in all recruitment and admission efforts, including: o Special events involving prospective students and families (open house, shadow days, tours, parent Info sessions, new family events and parent orientation). o Interview candidates and their parents, arrange for admission testing, secure necessary student credentials and communicate final decisions to the appropriate individuals • Builds strong relationships with outside institutions or groups (feeder schools, educational consultants, civic organizations, etc.) that can be helpful in attracting quality students. • Ensures the Office of Admission represents the school in the best possible fashion to prospective applicants, using feedback to inform the selection process to maximize future success. • Oversees student, alumnae, and parent volunteers who assist in the admission program. Coordinates with Associate Director of Admission to manage enrollment of international students. • Works with faculty and staff to evaluate applicants in an appropriate manner through the admission process, including establishing admission committee procedures and policies. • Oversees the preparation of reports/statistics for Head of School, Board of Trustees, etc. • Supervises, trains, and evaluates Associate Director of Admission. • Manages the Admission budget. • Serves on the Senior Leadership Team, Admission Committee, and Financial Aid Committee. • Represents AGS at local, regional, and national admission gatherings and conferences.
Significant experience in independent schools, significant admission experience, and at least five years of marketing/communications experience. • A bachelor’s degree is a minimum requirement. • Commitment to girls’ education and experience in independent schools. • Enjoys being the public face of the school; communicates effectively at all levels and works collaboratively. • Strategic, creative, mission-driven, and forward-thinking collaborative leader with exceptional entrepreneurial, strategic, problem-solving, and analytic skills. • Efficient time manager, detail-orientated, and exceptional organizational abilities. • Clarity, conciseness, and compassion in oral and written communications. • Professionalism and integrity in all circumstances. • Position requires the physical and sensory abilities necessary to work in a school office environment, sitting at a desk/working on a computer for an extended period of time, and being able to move around the building and grounds and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs. Employee must have a valid Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver's license.
